Ključ za oporavak BMW su bila dva modela – 1500 i Isetta.

BMW je 1954. godine kupio kompletnu proizvodnu liniju i licencu za proizvodnju modela Isetta od italijanske kompanije Iso. BMW je za pogon koristio svoje jednocilindrične vazdušno hlađene agregate zapremine 247/298ccm iz motocikala pa su na raspolaganju kupcima bili Isetta 250 (12KS) i Isetta 300 (13KS). Isetta je prestala da se proizvodi 1962. godine sa ukupno 161.000 prodatih jedinica.

Modeli 1500 i njegovi naslednici su prodavani od početka 60-tih do kraja 70-tih. U Classic-u smo mogli da vidimo model 2002, koji je bio jedan od najzanimljivijih modela u generaciji „Nove Klase“ kako se se tadašnji modeli nazivali.

Početkom 70-tih direktor BMW-a je bio amerikanac Bob Lutz koji je zaslužan za kreiranje naziva modela u BMW gami. On je idejni tvorac modela serije 3, serije 5, serije 6 i serije 7. I danas, kada se kaže „serija 5“ svako otprilike zna da je u pitanju limuzina srednje klase – bez obzira kakva je tehnologija ili pogon u konrektnom modelu.
